What to Do With the Fish After I Catchit?

I going to go fishing in the kelp beds in my kayak. Once I catch the fish what do I do with it?
Do I cut it like when spearfishing, then put it in the bucket or over the side? Won’t sharks be attracted? Do I let it die in the bucket? and don’t some fish you want to bleed out and others no?

Thanks!

strap an ice chest on to your ‘yak. ice ‘em down immediately. keep them out of the water. you’re right about the sharks. other fish too.

Forget the bucket (to cumbersome), simply put them on a stringer (links) and let them hang in the waters over the side. No “bleed out”, just remember that after you clean one there’s a’ blood vein on the spine that has to be removed, I use my thumb but, that depends on the size of the fisheee’ ~ if it’s a’ biggin’ I go with a household eatin’ spoon. Hope this helps

Just use a stringer and keep them alive as long as possible. If a shark comes to a boat that size it’s not after your fish
